A being is a term which is used in GURPS Magic in contrast with terms like object or area. For example:
- M117 Animate Object targets an "existing object" and specifies "the animated object has no IQ score"
- this might mean IQ 0 and make sentient (IQ1+) objects immune to the spell
- spell specifies "being holding such an object resists with Will" indicating Will is a key component of the spell: there's no known minimum preventing Will 0 though, and Slave Mentality prevents resisting with Will anyway
- M122 False Aura "Replaces the magical emanations of a being, area, or object"
- notes that subjects that are unwilling can resist
- M167 Sense Observation which "can also be cast on a being" since it's described as an Area spell
- False Aura technically is too, meaning "Area" headers appear to sometimes be options rather than absolutes
