Burning HP is found on B237 and M8.
In 3e this was known as "Spending HT instead of ST" on pg 9 of GURPS Magic.
Dungeon Fantasy - Spells reprints the text on page 10 but uses the phrase "Burning Hit Points"
defense mechanism[]
"Should a failed HT roll indicate that you have died, you do not actually spend the HP. Instead, you fall unconscious."
quotes[]
Kromm[]
17 October 2005, Nikolai posted a quote attributing this to an e-mail exchange with Kromm:
- When you burn HP to cast a spell, you always lose the HP.
- It's only FP costs that are reduced to 1 FP on a failure.
