Classic: Traveller

This is Classic material. Some conversion will be needed to use with 4e, some of which may have been done for you.

Classic GURPS Traveler cover

Classic: Traveller (1998) is a Classic book set in an alternative history version of the Traveler universe. GURPS Traveller: Interstellar Wars by contrast is a GURPS 4e book set in the canon Traveler universe in the Interstellar War period.

Though both books are considered part of the Powered By GURPS line they requires either the Basic Set (Third Edition) Revised and GURPS Compendium 1 or the current Basic Set.

Divergence

In the GURPS Traveller timeline Strephon was not assassinated and the MegaTraveller Rebellion did not happen.

Tech Levels

"The Imperium’s base TL is 10. (...) TL12 goods may be relatively common and cheap; TL12 technicians and operators are neither." (Classic Traveler 2e pg 82)

Note that this refers to the G3TL scale not the G4TL nor Traveler TL scales. Based on the Traveler wiki's Tech Level Conversion chart Classic TL10 works out to be Traveler TLs 12-13 and its TL12 works out to be Traveler TL-15.

Thanks to the changes in both the Traveler and GURPS TL systems this many be no longer accurate. (see Traveller 5e to GURPS TL conversion for how the TLs likely now convert)
