GURPS WWII is a Classic book. Thankfully most of the changes in character templates from Classic to 4e are minimal in this book.

Starting Points[]

Due to the increase in the cost of IQ and DX the suggested starting point totals need to be adjusted.

  • Ordinary enlisted men and NCOs [75]
  • Ordinary officers and top noncoms [100]
  • Crack troopers or high officers [150]
  • Elite and cinematic heroes [175]

National Advantages[]

Since IQ+1 and DX+1 are more expensive the US and German advantages have less flexibility at the suggested [25] and may need to be raised to [45]. Since Per and Will are derived from IQ they will also increase for US soldiers.

National Disadvantages[]

  • Semi-Literate is now Language (Native/broken) [-2]
  • All can be resisted mental disadvantages are (12) for the same point cost.

Military rank and skill[]

Templates[]

With the exception of 1/2 point skills most of the skills in the 1-4 paint range remain the same level though a few changed names. Raise all 1/2 point skills to 1 point; this raises the skill itself to the next level. For example, First-Aid (IQ/E) IQ [1/2]โ€”10 becomes First-Aid (IQ/E) IQ [1]โ€”11. The templates gave either [3] or [4] for optional skills. Since 1/2 point skills don't exist the GM may want to double the points for optional skills.

  • Rifleman [71]
  • Armor Crewmen [72]
  • Artilleryman [63]
  • Marine [96]
  • Recon Trooper [92]
  • Paratrooper [107]
  • Combat Engineer [82]
  • Sniper [107]
  • Commando [129]
  • Old-Guard Officer [117]
  • Bomber Crewman [71]
  • Fighter Pilot [104]
  • Sailor [72]
  • Resistance Fighter [81]
