Cobra Mk I[]

The PPS (Paynou, Prossett and Salem) Cobra Mk I is a medium multi-role ship intended for tramp traders - in fact, the first single-seat hyperdrive-capable vessel designed for this purpose.

It has a 75-ton (SM+5.5) streamlined wedge hull of metallic laminate, 18 yards (55 ft.) long, 5 yards (15 ft.) high, 23 yards (70 ft.) wide. It has gravitic compensators ($75K).

  • Inservice Date: 2855
  • Users: Independent, Federation
  • Equipment Mounts: A Cobra Mk I can mount a fixed forward beam weapon; fixed rear beam weapon; a 24 cm missile launcher with 2 missiles; a fuel scoop; and a class 2 or 3 hyperdrive.

Cobra Mk I, Typical Loadout[]

The Cobra Mk I is a common choice for pirates. The following loadout adds a fuel scoop with cargo scoop, front and rear gun mounts fitted with 1MW pulse lasers, a brace of missiles, and a small energy shield. This leaves enough space in the hold for eleven 1-ton canisters. The class 2 hyperdrive gives a maximum hyperdrive journey of 10 light years, taking 7 days and consuming 4 tons (1,920 mps) of hydrogen.
