Damage to Armor is a set of rules found on page 25 of Low-Tech Companion 2.
It adapts the Damage to Objects rules for armor, which was not approached in Basic Set.
It notable introduces this new benefit:
- Armor is protected by its own DR at -1
This would mean someone could whittle down armor even if they can't (initially) inflict enough DR to penetrate it! This is a neat alternative to the option of making the DR Ablative or Semi-Ablative, which can be a bit brutal.
However...
- Flexible armor is Diffuse
- Rigid armor is Homogenous
So it's hard to inflict lots of damage to it with a single attack that isn't AE.
Weight reduction for HQ armor does not reduce its HP, it is calculated as if it were its base weight.
It 100% would make sense to apply this to spine and skull DR, giving them each a separate pool of HP which might be whittled down to eventually make it easier to strike the spinal cord or the brain.
As for healing, unclear if it should be simultaneously or sequentially (and in what order?) to basic HP.
