GURPS Wiki
This is a reality from the Steve Jackson Games forums and not part of the GURPS canon.

Named after the fictional park this reality is a puzzle for Infinity.

At first glance the world looked like it had suffered one of the worse reality quakes ever as it appeared that there was a wild mixture of time frames.

For example a good hunk of Europe has medieval knights who live in decaying TL7 cities and board barely functional TL6 trains for the latest Crusade while in the American West cowboys of the 19th century live and work in the remnants of TL7 cities.

Eventually Infinity figured out the truth. Mankind had accidentally wiped itself out with a disease decades ago and the androids of a adult Delos-like Disneyland expanded outside their park turning huge hunks of the planet into quasi-copies of their "worlds" to fulfill their directives.

The directives[]

  1. Within reason a robot must not harm a human being
  2. A robot must remain in character unless it violates the first rule
  3. A robot must make sure a human has an enjoyable experience unless it violates rules 1 or 2

The "Worlds"[]

While the regions have no formal names some wit in Infinity thought to go whole hog with Westworld/Futureworld movie based references and their names have stuck. All the worlds are TL9 with regards to maintaining their robot population and are made to appear at the TL appropriate for their setting (though they will make use of the remnants of TL that is higher than their setting). Since the settings were designed to entertain for the most part they are idealized versions of their point in history.

Americas[]

  • Futureworld - the most advanced of the "worlds" (TL8) this is mainly notable for its regular trips to the actual planet Mars. Covers everything in the old United States east of the Mississippi.
  • Westworld - The American west c 1830 - c 1900; everything west of the Mississippi.
  • Lost world - Dinosaurs and "lost civilizations" (actually remnants of the TL9 world with small token populations), South America.

Eurasia[]

  • Medieval world - currently a weird mixture of TL2-4 and deteriorating TL6-7 that covers Western Europe until you get to Germany.
  • Reichworld - Of course somebody wanted to fight Nazis. They control the middle of Europe (except for Italy) up to the boarder of Russia. One of the more "realistic" worlds. TL6
  • Romanworld - Dominates what was Italy. Roman empire during the Reign of Tiberius (42 BCE -37 CE). TL2
  • 1001world - Effectively a localized version of Burton (786 to 809 CE). Covers Central Asia. TL2 with "magic" simulated by TL9.
  • Czarworld - Peter the Great's Russia (1672-1725). TL4
  • Victorianworld - Victorian era c 1880s; covers England and a sizable part of Africa and India.

Japan[]

  • Shogunworld - The Japan described in the novelization of Will Adams' experiences in Japan.

Unclaimed Lands[]

These are the parts of the world that didn't fit the settings of the original park. They have effectively been left to the elements and used as "Lost worlds" by Victorianworld.

  • Antartica
  • Australia
  • China
  • Central Africa
  • Scandinavian countries
  • Polynesia
