GURPS Dungeon Fantasy is a series of small PDF genre books for GURPS, covering the sub-genre of dungeoneering fantasy made popular by Dungeon & Dragons. Several of the books were rewritten and repackaged for the Powered by GURPS Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game.
Some confusion exists with the Dungeon Fantasy RPG which is not preceded with "GURPS" in titles even though it uses a GURPS-based rules system. The contrast can be seen here:
Pyramid era[]
Before it was a series of books Dungeon Fantasy was a series of Pyramid articles (10, 13, 19, 25, 38, 43, 47, 48, 56, 58, 61, 64, 68, 70, 75, 77, 78, 80, and 82) which were compiled as Pyramid: Dungeon Fantasy Collected:
- 72 and 89 were actually Alternate Dungeons
- 104/106/108 focus on the DFRPG, 113 is Dungeon Fantasies
The Treasure Room[]
Steve Jackson's website lists all the relevant material published .
Two Lines[]
The only clear distinction between the two lines is the "GURPS Dungeon Fantasy" line has "GURPS" in the upper left corner while the Dungeon Fantasy RPG line has "Powered by GURPS" as a tagline. However, it is important that only Dungeon Fantasy RPG material should go into the Dungeon Fantasy Roleplaying Game forum. GURPS Dungeon Fantasy material must go into the general GURPS forum.
Comment[]
There are some conflicts between the two lines with regards to rules and details. While it is more one the level of AD&D1 vs AD&D2 then anything else it is likely the division is to prevent confusion...which it seems to fail miserably at given how flexible GURPS is.
