The Gutamaya Eagle Long Range Fighter Mk III is the Empire’s development of the Core Dynamics Eagle Mk I. The Mk III can be visually distinguished by its cylindrical wingtip nacelles compared to the Mk I’s lozenges. The Mk III Eagle has a 30-ton (SM+5) lifting body streamlined hull of layered meta-alloy and CMM composite. It winged ($300K) and has gravitic compensators ($30K) and emergency ejection ($500K).

The crew consists of a single pilot.

  • Users: Empire.
  • Equipment Mounts: An Eagle Mk III can optionally mount one spinal beam weapon; one fixed front 24cm missile launcher with two missiles; a class 1 hyperdrive or a class 1 or 2 military hyperdrive. It cannot mount a fuel scoop.

Eagle Mk III, Typical Loadout[]

An Eagle Mk III outfitted for the Imperial Navy: a 1 MW beam laser, two missile pylons, and a class 2 military hyperdrive and enough fuel for 2 full hyperspace jumps. For defense, it includes a small energy shield and naval AM-ECM.

The class 2 military hyperdrive gives a maximum hyperspace journey of 6 light years, taking 7 days, expending 1 ton (2,000 mps delta-V) of military fuel and creating 0.5 tons of waste radioactives.

The short jump range puts this variant in the role of local defense, or to be carried in the hangar of a long range cruiser.
