While these are two separate types of enchantment (Enchantment Through Age and Enchantment Through Deeds) they tend to occur together. Such items may have been enchanted by other (even "normal") means in addition to these types of enchantments.
Enchantment Through Age[]
- Amplification: attracted similar energies from the ambient mana
- Significance: gains power from its symbolic value and the psychic import of events in which it's involved.
- Use: how the item is used and the emotions when using the item shapes its enchantments
- Rate of Enchantment: The older the more powerful
Enchantment Through Deeds[]
Items gain power by being used in great events. It is faster then Significance Enchantment
- Naming Objects: the naming of an item in of itself can imbue an enchantment.
- Traumatic Enchantment: an emotionally or psychically significant incident enchants the item.
In some cases the very act of making an item very well can enchant it though this Creation by Deed is different from deeds performed with the item.
Comments[]
Clearly the longer an item had been around the greater the chance it will have to be involved in a great deed. In the Infinite Worlds setting there are several Reality Shards that fall under one of these catagories:
- Shroud of Turin: Enchantment Through Deeds or Creation by Deed
- Vinland Map: Enchantment Through Deeds and/or Creation by Deed
- Magic Bullet: Enchantment Through Deeds
In the fan work Five Earths, All in a Row with its Semiotic Ghosts nature many items may retroactively pick up one or more these enchantments. Such items can be (but are not limited to):
- Imperial Regalia of Japan: Creation by Deed and Enchantment Through Deeds
- Holy Grail: Creation by Deed, Enchantment Through Deeds, and Enchantment Through Age
- Crown Jewels: Creation by Deed and Enchantment Through Age
- The Lesser Key of Solomon: Enchantment Through Age
- Magna Carta: Creation by Deed and Enchantment Through Age
- Declaration of Independence: Creation by Deed and Enchantment Through Age
- Constitution of the United States: Creation by Deed and Enchantment Through Age
- Hope Diamond: Enchantment Through Deeds and/or Enchantment Through Age
