Escape Pod[]
An escape pod is a ruggedized one-person Stardreamer pod. The escape pod is autonomous, plotting a route to the nearest starport in the system; else the nearest inhabited planetoid; else the nearest habitable planetoid. The control system emits an SOS beacon, and the small 200 lb. cargo container holds basic survival gear.
Escape pods are commonly sold with an insurance package that grants the holder a basic spacecraft (such as an Eagle Mk. I) upon destruction of the ship the escape pod was fitted in.
The escape pod fits in a specialized SM +6 Hangar that allows a crewmember to rapidly enter it and launch.
It has an SM +3 unstreamlined hull of mass 3 tons. It has gravitic compensators ($3K)
