Balkan; Albania, Greece
Slavic word for werewolf. While perhaps not as bloodthirsty as some undead, it makes up for this in maliciousness. Some seem to have continued relatively normal “lives”, even reportedly taking up new residences and wives, and fathering children.
One variant is only destroyed by complete cremation.

Vyrkolakas (Vry-COO-low-casz)
Variations: Tympaniaois
This vampire spirit is created when a werewolf dies. Instead of animated its own body it will go and possess a corpse. When it does this the bloated body will become hard, and the skin will become so tight that when it is slapped it will sound like a drum.
It will wander throughout its old community spreading disease and calling out the names of people it knew in life. "Anyone who happens to see it and look directly at it will die instantly; anyone who should answer its call will die within 24 hours."
