The Golem spell is an Enchantment-type spell that creates a permanent, animate servant-warrior.
The Golem spell has an minimum energy cost of 130 though the Clay Golem, worth 0 Character Points, at 250 energy is considered the baseline.
For every character point of abilities added to or removed 2 energy points are added or removed. So ST+1, HP+5, and DR2 would be 20 more energy points each.
Quadruped Golems are a special case as they have ST and DX with the No Fine Manipulators limitation on values different from 10 as well as the Quadraped disadvantage.
Formula[]
To go from 250 down to 130 (a difference of 120 energy) requires dropping 60 character points, since each CP changes the energy cost by 2
This means the basic formula for calculating energy costs of golems (applying minimum after) is
- CP*2+250
Important note[]
The Golem of Jewish folklore uses a ritual magic version of this spell.
Pyramid[]
The Golem Construction System for GURPS article has some errors and is missing Classic golems. The Golems page addresses both these issues.
