Gotha is a collective term for parallels with the devastating Gotha Plague, which turns humans into bloodthirsty cannibals. There are nineteen known Gotha parallels, implying one of the Patrol's biggest fears--a parachronic disease, with the potential to devastate entire worlds.
The Gotha Plague[]
The Gotha Plague appears to be a pneumonic plague mutated into (or meshed into) a prion-based disease that spreads through any concentrated population of people--usually over a thousand or so. The disease turn the infected into "zombies" with baboon-troop-like social organization, with some members retaining remnants of the social patterns they originally had.
