Kobolds: A Modern Expansion[]

Kobolds are small, scaly humanoids with lizardlike heads and a cultural proficiency for tunneling. Not particularly fast or strong, kobolds have to outsmart and outmaneuver their foes, utilizing small spaces and pack tactics. While in their own warrens, kobolds are well protected by easily-deployable traps, tight passageways and a keen knowledge of the terrain—outside the warrens however, things get tricky.

Kobold Scouts[]

When kobolds must expand their warrens—to make room for new kobolds, or to avoid disaster, for instance—they must, by necessity, exit their well-designed tunnels and enter the world of monsters on the surface, where even the common wolf may make a meal of them. Kobolds counter these creatures with crossbows, fire weapons, mechanical magitech marvels, and occasionally, cave bees with a hatred of warm-blooded creatures.

Kobold Pets[]

Kobolds live in a "world of giants" — almost every creature is larger than them, and they're always looking for an edge. One such edge is pets, various trained animals that kobolds to leverage their cleverness over larger races.

  • Mining Birds — While not useful on their own, mining birds produce immensely sturdy feathers, which makes very effective padded armor. (DR 3+)
