not to be confused with One Use Only from Supers 78

Limited Use, Once Ever is a -80% limitation which appears on H85 for Possession w/ Parasitic.

This is a form of Limited Use not found in basic set.

This value is basically implied by the Favor advantage, which applies 1/5 cost to one-time allies.

Those approaches are slightly different in economy for modified abilities, 1/5 being universally better because:

  • 1/5 saves more points for abilities >100% due to enhancements>limitations: you're not just saving 4/5 the base cost but 4/5 the enhancements too
  • -80% already brings an ability

These differences are not seen for

EOL[]

Notably "one person only" and "once ever" would be -64% (.8x.8=.64) but there is actually two ways to interpret that. As Restructurable Magery points out, you are buying a Reciprocal Enhancement to cancel out a limitation, meaning there is a primary limitation (which is cancelled by the reciprocal) and a secondary limitation (which is introduced by the reciprocal)

option one[]

"Not Once Ever +80%" with "One Person Only -80%" making it +64% or effectively a -16% mitigator to the Once Ever limitation. So you would get one use (worth 16% of the ability) of the ability outside that one person. You would inherently switch off 'once ever' any time that person was involved, but the one time they're not involved, it would need to be switched on so that "one person" did not apply

  • this would permanently prohibit additional uses outside the special person. It remains unclear if that non-person use would prevent further uses PERIOD (not even for that person) or just for the others (other person always being an option)
    • Limited Enhancements means OPO only applies when trying to deactivate the limitation via the RECIPenhance:

"Not One Person Only +80%" with "Once Ever -80%" also is +64% or effectively a -16% mitigator to the One Person Only limitation.

  • One Person Only is the default status here, which is cancelled by turning on NOPO and incurring the 'once ever' limitation.
    • the ruling of Limited Enhancements is that the limit only applies while using the enhancement, so your "used up" use would take effect any time you tried to affect others

To have "once PER person" you would need something like Increased Immunity, but have it apply to successes as well as failures.
