"Maltheistic religions are those which encourage or support "evil" activities, particularly those against people. Their deities are dark and twisted beings, with no redeeming qualities. They encourage their followers to perform violent, sadistic acts of worship."
While a religion can be portrayed as Maltheistic there are no documented examples of an actual Maltheistic religion in the real world. By contrast such religions abound in fiction with Lovecraft's Cthunic deities being one of the best known examples.
