Path/Book Adept is the 4e name for Classic's Ritual Adept. First appearing in GURPS Thaumatology, it was expanded in Thaumatology: Ritual Path Magic.
Path/Book Adept Details[]
Each level of this advantage allows omission one of the three elements[1] that is decided at the time of acquisition[2][3]:
- Time: down to 1d seconds of concentration
- Ritual Space
- Material and Symbolic components
Special Enhancements[]
- Choice of Element (+40% for one element; +20% for two): allows Path/Book Adept advantage to be chosen at the time of ritual casting. Path/Book Adept 2 caps this at +20% and Path/Book Adept 3 renders this enhancement meaningless.

- One Ritual Only (-80%)
Ritual Adept, 4e[]
Prerequisite: Magery 0+
Cost: 40 points
Allows the pulling off impressive rituals in less time than it takes other casters to do a cantrip
Can be broken up along the lines of Path/Book Adept:
- Ritual Adept (Connection), 10 points: May ignore the -5 for lacking a connection with the subject of your spell.
- Ritual Adept (Space): May ignore the -5 for performing a ritual in a non-consecrated space. .
- Ritual Adept (Time), 10 points/level; 2 max: Can cast spells faster; level 2 allows energy to be accumulated without checking for skill
