Quick Contest (QC) "is a competition that is over in very little time – often in one second, perhaps even instantly."[1]
The Margin of Victory (i.e. how much they both succeeded or failed by) determines who the "winner" in the contest.[1]
Examples[]
Situations which call for quick contests include:
- Break Free (in Basic Set: this was replaced with an attack/defence procedure in Technical Grappling)
- Malediction attacks, and some other kinds of 2-sided Resistance rolls / Savings Throws (others are just 1-sided though) including spells
- Shooting in a Melee (in Tactical Shooting)
- Shoving People Around (in Martial Arts)
- Takedown (replaced with Force Posture Change in Technical Grappling)
- TBA
Resistance Rolls[]
Resistance rolls have two additional rules:
1) The attacker must succeed to win.
2) The attacker must win to affect the subject. All ties go to the defender.
