not to be confused with RATS, Robotic Armored Tactical Systems, a type of battlesuit in Transhuman Space.

Rats are SM-7 making them 3 steps larger than most ants who have SM-10. In real life, rats are a prolific species, successfully stowing away on ships ever since the Age of Sail and spreading to almost everywhere on the planet. As small generalists, they're able to survive in most environments--in real life, rats are found almost everywhere on Earth, save for Antarctica, the Arctic, and a scant few conservation areas... and Alberta, Canada, but that's a whole other story.

Brown Rat[]

Variants[]

  • Fancy and laboratory rats are basically identical (they arenโ€™t tame enough to qualify for Domestic Animal), although albino ones are almost blind (treat as Simple Eyes instead of Bad Sight).
  • Black rats, also known as house rats or ship rats, are smaller (7โ€ฒโ€ฒ long; 0.5 lbs.) with SMโˆ’5. Dozens of other rat species are similar, as are woodrats (not closely related to true rats).
  • Most mice, such as the house mouse (3โ€ฒโ€ฒ long; 0.05 lbs.), as well as numerous other small rodents like cotton rats, deer mice, dormice, gerbils, hamsters, harvest mice, kangaroo rats, lemmings, and voles, have ST and HP 1, SM โˆ’7.

Rats on Infinite Worlds[]

As expected, rats exist on countless other Worlds, and Patrol officers should be wary to keep any rogue rodents out of their conveyors, lest they unleash an invasive species on some unsuspecting rural timeline!
