Defaults: Ritual Magic (same)-6 or Theology (same)-4
Religious Ritual (IQ/Hard) is the skill to perform religious rites – masses, funerals, weddings, etc. – before a congregation. Requires specialization by religion.
Versus Public Speaking and Theology[]
Religious Ritual can have overlap with Public Speaking (for delivering a rousing sermon) and Theology (for general knowledge on a given religion).
Religious Ritual is the skill to perform rites properly, and is a requirement for any priest-type character--from the techno-biopriests of Seventh Heaven to the neolithic sacred-leaders of the World of Banded Night.[1]
Favors From A Higher Power[]
Religious Ritual has power. In settings where priests perform miracles, Religious Ritual may allow bonuses to casting divine spells. Rituals tend to be slower, but more reliable and less fatigue-intensive than casting without preparation.[1]
I Feel Numinous![]
Religious Ritual (or Teaching) can be used to guide Meditation to enter an altered state of consciousness, giving a +1 bonus (+2 on a crit) on the Meditation roll.[2] Likewise, it can even give psychological bonuses to resist metabolic effects and overcome doubts.[3]
