Sean Punch aka Dr. Kromm (born July 27, 1967) is a Canadian writer and game designer. He is the author of the Fourth Edition of the GURPS role-playing game. Before he turned to writing he was a student of particle physics.[1]

Krommquote is a term in the FAQ which refers to him. It is often used in forums as a noun.

Zombies[]

Aside from GURPS Zombies other zombie-related works he's done include:

  • 14 August 2012 Jerander mentions here:
    • Kromm's Improved Zombies from Pyramid...3/4...? One of the earlier ones, anyway, had exactly this build. ER (Affect Others). In addition, they had Area Effect so they didn't have to be touching their master to share their ER
      • issue 3 had Kromm co-write Death Ball which does not reference ER
      • issue 4 had Kromm write Society of Siege Sorcerers page 7 referencing a leveled perk "Limited Energy Reserve 1-5 (S3)" but nothing about zombies.
    • by December 2013 Jerander thinks it might be issue 5, but this is wrong since all Kromm wrote was X-Terminators which does not reference it
  • in 2010 he said it was Pyramid 1 which includes Necromantic Tools as part of Tools of the Trade: Wizards. Page 16 is where the improved Zombie template is

History with GURPS[]

After writing, editing, and contributing to dozens of books for GURPS, he took on the task of re-designing the entire rule system. He was assisted by David L. Pulver, another Canadian and veteran role-playing game designer. The original design for GURPS is by Steve Jackson.

Sean Punch is currently the Line Editor for GURPS. This is equivalent to being editor-in-chief of a book series, and the key decision-maker for new rules expansions.

He lives in Montréal, Québec.

In an attempt to acknowledge the quality and quantity of his work, some GURPS players have used his online nickname ("Kromm") to create a tongue-in-cheek cult.[2] They leave messages in discussion groups pretending to "praise Kromm."
