Semi-Upright is an exotic physical Disadvantage where a character or creature is primarily horizontal but can stand upright for shorter periods of time, such as a chimpanzee, gorilla, or even most bears.[1] This allows a creature to stand upright and use their forelimbs--for instance, to carry babies, or manipulate objects. While some animals can rear up on their hind limbs, semi-upright creatures can do it for much longer periods of time, and more-or-less comfortably.[1]
Creatures with semi-upright can manage to move around upright (without their forelimbs) at x0.6 their usual Move,[1] and typically can't utilize any Enhanced Move (Ground) abilities while doing so. Those with DX 12 or more may be able to carry a small object or two, if they have the hands for it.
Errata[]
For a long time, B456's stats for two kinds of apes neglected to include this disadvantage in their writeups. In the 7th printing (February 2020) of Campaigns, it was added.
