B372 defines as a Slam variation.
B376 mentions treating ST as weight, whereas a Bash (a Shield Bash) would presumably use the weight of a shield, which could be more.
- some might house rule adding these numbers together!
B406 elaborates this cannot be done with a Buckler.
Necks[]
MA112
- Using a long pole makes two options available that aren’t possible with ordinary slams and shield rushes. First, you can target the neck, at the standard -5 to hit.
FAQ[]
3.4.3.3 How can you block a shield rush with your own shield?
- A successfuly block attempt means you brace, receive the shield rush on your own shield, and turn to cause the attacker to slide off to one side. Failure means you catch it square and get slammed anyhow.
- For added realism, you can say that a failed shield block vs. a rush results in slam damage to the arm behind the shield. That's not in the Basic Set, but it seems fair.
If using that optional rule it would probaly make sense to treat it like a fall though, where unlike normal attacks targeting the arm where excess damage is lost, excess damage carries over (like using cover DR).
Exploits[]
Pg 40 subtracts DB from damage the opponent does, rather than applying that damage to the shield.
