Without the assistance of faster-than-light travel, the spacelanes are populated with generation ships, seedships and the like--sleeping giants, waiting to find a home. Many are old Terran designs from before warp was discovered. But some are much, much stranger. As humanity moves out into the stars, it's only logical that other aspiring species move in to our own neck of the woods.
