Defaults: Perception-5 or Naturalist (same planet)-3

Survival (Per/Average) is the ability to “live off the land,” find safe food and water, avoid hazards, build shelter, etc.

Requires specialization by terrain type (those in bold match Classic's Habitats):

  • Land (defaults to each other -3): Arctic, Desert, Island/Beach, Jungle, Mountain, Plains, Swampland, and Woodlands (Forest in Classic).
  • Aquatic (defaults to each other -4): Bank, Deep Ocean Vent, Fresh-Water Lake (Fresh-Water Aquatic in Space Bestiary), Open Ocean, Reef, River/Stream, Salt-Water Sea (Salt-Water Aquatic in Space Bestiary), and Tropical Lagoon.
  • Island/Beach and Tropical Lagoon default each other -4

While not listed in 4e, Classic's Subterranean can be considered another Survival/Habitat.

Domestic is used for domesticated animals
