Targeted Attack is a category of techniques allowing attacks on specific body areas or towards other tricky targets, such as chinks in armor or striking at weapons (including Disarm). Targeted Attack is an optional rule.

Three criteria (skill / attack / target) must be specified, such as TA:Broadsword/Thrust/Vitals (a classic vital stab) or TA:Wrestling Grab/Neck (for grabbing necks, of course).

Although it specifies "swing" or "thrust" if a weapon can ONLY do one of these things, sometimes examples don't bother to write it.

It explicitly can default from a Technique instead of a skill, despite the first criteria.

Half (round up) of the penalties for strikes can be bought off; as well as full penalties for grapples (grapples begin at half rounded up), leading to similar maximum points spent.

Unclear if Technique Mastery is an option or not.
