It can be argued that--other then the Kentucky Rifle and Colt 45--no weapon symbolized an era in US history like the Thompson Submachine Gun. A weapon of choice for cops and criminals of the 1920s, the "Tommy Gun" or "Chicago Typewriter" had a high rate of fire, and saw several wars and conflicts of late TL6. It was the first weapon to be labelled and marketed as a "submachine gun", and shows up in countless tales (and perhaps, parallels) of the Pulp era.
While the series sees service into the present day in some countries, the version most people think of is (what GURPS calls) the Auto-Ordnance M1921. .45 ACP. Manufactured from 1921 to 1928, this fully-automatic submachine gun fires .45 ACP pistol cartridges at RoF 13.

โ Two handed.
- Firing at full auto gives a +3 to hit! The bullets aren't unlimited, though.
Variations[]
An "AC" after the series number (ie M1921AC) represents the Cutts Compensator attachment designed to reduce the recoil and muzzle rise of a firearm.
In Earlier Editions[]
According to the 1st and 2nd editions of GURPS Horror the drum magazine was very noisy resulting in a -2 to Stealth and could cause the weapon to jam (1 on a d6); this works out to Malf. 16 for the 1927 model.
Errata?[]
- According to the Wikipedia page, the original M1921 had a RPM of 900, giving it a RoF of 15, instead.
