The premise here is the July 20, 1944 assassination plot against Hitler (Project Valkyrie) succeeds.
The idea is if Rommel could sale the idea of uniting against Communism he might be able to not only keep German territory but a small sphere of influence in Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Croatia as well.

The Alternate Historian argues in What if Operation Valkyrie was Successful? that this is very unlikely. By 1944 is was clear that Germany would loose the war and the Allies had already agreed that they would accept nothing less then unconditional surrender.
The only thing Project Valkyrie could have realistically changed was the fate of Germany at the end of the war by having only token resistance to the Western Allies while fighting the Russians every step of the way.
