PU8p18 rules for modifying Trigger. The word "extended" is not actually used in the examples, rather "triggerd" is followed by the duration of use supplied by fulfilling the trigger. It's much like defining a Frequency of Appearance or Self-Control Number when listing paramers.
1 minute = 100% cost, 10m = 50% cost, 1h = 25% cost, 8h = 12.5% cost.
- fractions are dropped in 5% increments, so to get even -5% requires 10m for -10% trigger, 1h for -20% trigger or 8h for -40% trigger.
These rules could plausibly be adapted for messing around with Costs Fatigue or Costs HP to give durations longer than 1 minute at more reasonable UPFRONT costs (as opposed to minimal ongoing ones).
For example instead of "Costs Fatigue 2 -10%: 2 on 1st minute, 1 per additional minute)...
You take a base "Costs Fatigue 20 -100%: 20 on 1st minute, 10 per additional minute".
Then: by applying "10 minutes for 50% cost" (1st tier of ExtendeD) you would get "10 minutes for 20 FP, then 10 FP per additional 10 FP".
This largely works out to the exact same amount (2 FP 1st, 1 FP extra)
This payment structure is more staggered for those who don't want to making ongoing payments, and instead want to pay for it in larger batches up front.
50% value of -100% is -50% : to need to pay 20 FP and 10 FP batches is considered 5x as limiting as being able to pay it in smaller quantities.
Where it gets even more cost effective with the higher tiers:
25% cost of -100% is -25%.
That way 20 FP pays for first 60 minutes (works out to 1 FP per 3 minutes) and 10 FP per additional hour (works out to 1 FP per 6 minutes).
Obviously there would be a minimum tier though due to the 5% round-offs. That would be as follows, in terms of minimal upfront FP investiture:
- -40% for 8 hours: costs 8 FP to activate: that's 1 FP per hour upfront. The 4 FP per addiitonal 8 hours averages to 1 FP per 2 hours.
- -20% for 1 hour: costs 4 FP to activate.
- -10% for 10 minutes: costs 2 FP to activate.
In all cases this amounts to -5%.
These costs (at identical %s) are halved Costs HP since it's worth twice as much: 1 HP to activate something lasting 10 minutes for -5% instead of the usual -10% to activate it for merely 1 minute with 1 HP.
By comparison: Trigger Extended gives 1 minute of activation for -15% only needing a 1 HP injury, but this actually requires the capacity to injure oneself, which can be restricted via paralysis (can't even bite your own tongue) whereas paralysis may not impede the activaiton of an ability.
