Notes[]
- ↑ In the novel no mention of the Martians ever invading anywhere but England is made. If anything the chapter titled "Wreckage" implies the rest of the world escaped: "Across the Channel, across the Irish Sea, across the Atlantic, corn, bread, and meat were tearing to our relief. All the shipping in the world seemed going Londonward in those days." If the rest of world had seen the level of destruction England had seen then they wouldn't be in any condition to send food and certainly not in any large amounts
- ↑ For example no one remembered the 1953 attack despite the amount of damage the Martians did. The show then tried to have the 1938 radio broadcast be of a real invasion...which given the power of the 1953 ships was total nonsense.
