Writing (IQ/Average) is a skill for writing in a clear or entertaining manner.[1] A successful roll means the work is readable and accurate. While this skill is mainly useful for earning a living (such as writing novels, or tabletop game books), it can help on adventures--or after them.[1] The effectiveness of a writer's writing, the weight it carries, can vastly change how seriously it is taken--and how far its story is spread.
Modifiers[]
- Time Spent modifiers often apply, although time-sensitive documents (such as reports from the front lines) might not have this luxury
- -5 if writing about an unfamiliar subject (winging it)
- Language modifiers apply if attempting to write (such as a report or letter) in a language you're not fully-versed in
As a Complementary Skill[]
- Writing can work as a Complementary Skill to many skills!
- Public Speaking--for instance, writing a speech before speaking it.[2][3]
- Diplomacy, Savoir-Faire (High Society), and Sex Appeal[4]
- Writing can certainly help with advertising and propaganda[5]
As a Substitute for Influence Skills[]
- Writing can be used as an Influence skill in most circumstances where the user is communicating through text.[6] This includes requesting information or aid,[7] debating[8] (including political disputes)[9], and of course, wit and mockery.[10]
Techniques[]
- The Irony technique uses either Writing or Public Speaking as its prerequisite.
